The B7-H3 protein belongs to the B7 family, which in turn belongs to the type I transmembrane immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. It plays an important role in the regulation of adaptive immune responses, as the B7-H3 protein can both stimulate and inhibit immune cell activation. Recently, the expression of B7-H3 in various human cancers has been reported, indicating an additional function of B7-H3 as a regulator of antitumor immunity.
